Chartered Psychologist - HPC Registered Psychologist

Mr Hughes is a Registered Psychologist, Chartered Psychologist, Chartered Scientist and Chartered IT Professional. Mr Hughes qualified as a teacher in 1971 and as a psychologist in 1981. Mr Hughes has a Certificate in Education, a BA degree in maths and computing a BA Honours degree in psychology and a masters degree in educational psychology Mr Hughes is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a member of the British Computer Society and holds a practice certificate as a Registered Psychologist.

Mr Hughes taught in a variety of mainstream and special schools for ten years and has practised as an educational psychologist for more than twenty eight years, working through Local Authority Psychology Services in mainstream and special schools, child mental health, and social care services, for Granada Learning in Further and Higher Education and in private practice in a range of settings with adults and children. Throughout his career Mr Hughes has also worked as an Assistive Technologist (computers for disability) undertaking assessment, support, training and development. Mr Hughes is a Chartered IT Professional.

In legal matters Mr Hughes has prepared reports for Courts and Tribunals involving children’s social care, fostering, sexual abuse, custody and other family matters. Mr Hughes has reported on children and adults in matters concerning negligence, understanding and capacity for Court and Tribunal, giving evidence as required, including criminal, educational, employment and personal injury matters.
